Introducing McMaster Pediatrics’ new Mission, Vision, and Values commitments

Through consultation and feedback with department stakeholders during the spring of 2021, the executive leadership team established a clear picture of what the membership regards as critically important to the future of pediatrics at McMaster.

With this support, Department Chair and Chief, Dr. Angelo Mikrogianakis, refined a Mission, Vision, and Values (MVV) framework that will become the group’s north star for strategic planning and project development, going forward.

“Members expressed the need to put children and families at the centre of all our efforts. Collaboration; innovative approaches to problem-solving; action-oriented commitments to EDI principles; and respectful engagement with all our stakeholders will inform our work and define how we connect with families”, said Mikrogianakis.

We recognize it is our responsibility to create environments where all people feel safe and supported.

Guided by principles in the MVV the Department of Pediatrics has begun to consult its membership on the development of a strategic plan, expected to be released in late 2021. 

“We look forward to working with faculty, staff, and trainees to identify the ways we can apply our MVV and allow it to authentically shape our future,” said Mikrogianakis.

The Department of Pediatrics’ executive team presented the new MVV to over 120 members in attendance at Grand Rounds on June 17, 2021.
