Pediatrics receives $3M in CIHR grants to study neonatal care, childhood obesity, and overuse of antibiotics
Over $3 million has been awarded to researchers with McMaster University’s Department of Pediatrics from the Canadian Institutes for Health Research (CIHR) Fall 2023 Grant competition.
Three research teams, led by doctors at McMaster Children’s Hospital, have secured multi-year funding to explore critical issues in child health including childhood obesity, neonatal care, and reducing overuse of antibiotics.
Department Chair and Professor, Angelo Mikrogianakis said this research is vital to addressing health challenges in our communities and will ultimately support patients and families to live healthier and more fulfilling lives.
“We have incredible research talent here in Pediatrics and McMaster Children’s Hospital. I’m so proud of our teams – these federally funded studies and clinical trials will create positive impacts for children and their families and continue to position McMaster as a centre of excellence in child health research.”
