Overview
We regularly collaborate with physicians from other clinical divisions and allied health staff for multidisciplinary care and research partnerships. Quality improvement, patient safety, and bioethics activities are a strength of the division.
We value the contributions of all our team members and believe in the power of gathering different ideas to co-create solutions. As a subspecialty which relies on multidisciplinary groups to support our patient population, in areas such as diabetes care and weight management, the division encourages open communication in a safe environment. We provide care to important and sometimes vulnerable populations, such as remote Indigenous communities, and we participate in gender diversity clinics.

Education
Excellence in teaching residents and endocrine fellows is evident in our clinical and research environments. The division provides clinical learning opportunities in a variety of endocrine conditions in inpatient service and outpatient settings.
Scholarly work in medical education is a noted area of strength. Faculty and learners regularly partner in projects through the quality improvement co-learning curriculum facilitated by McMaster’s Postgraduate Medical Education program.

Clinical
The division is closely aligned with McMaster Children’s Hospital and supports all clinical activities in both in-patient and out-patient settings. Innovations have led to the development of specialized clinics including Type 2 diabetes and Indigenous health, after effects of cancer therapy, complex obesity, exercise medicine, lipids, bone health, and transgender health. The division also has a transition to adult care program to support the maintenance of optimal health for teens as they graduate beyond pediatric care.
Research

Research
Endocrine faculty also have expertise in basic science, translational, and clinical/epidemiological research. We mobilize this knowledge by providing opportunities for residents and fellows to pursue formal research training under our supervision which has resulted in a strong record of research contributions and scholarly output from our trainees.
